Ours Is The Land is showing at the Phoenix Art Museum's new exhibit: Landscapes of Extraction
Landscapes of Extraction: The Art of Mining in the American West, explores the evolution of the art of mining, with works from the 1910s through today that depict regional landscapes of enterprise and examine how mining has altered the natural environment on a spectacular scale.
Ours Is The Land is playing on loop with English and Spanish subtitles, followed by a Google Earth fly-through of mines and contested mine sites in AZ, through March 6th, 2022.
The film captures the heart and soul of the Tohono O’odham Nation’s fight to defend their ancestral lands from the development of the proposed Rosemont copper mine in southern Arizona. One of our proudest moments as filmmakers came when the film was submitted as evidence in the Tohono O'odham Nation's legal battle against the proposed mine.
Stay tuned for more information about a special double feature screening on January 19th at the Phoenix Art Museum featuring Ours Is The Land and Anthropocene: The Human Epoch, followed by an in-person panel discussion featuring Frances Causey and other guests TBA.
