Archaeologist Dr. Deni Seymour, Tohono O'odham tribal member Tony Burrell, and Frances Causey will be guests on Mark McLemore's "Arizona Spotlight" on August 15th, with a repeat of the show on August 17th.
"Coronado” chronicles the most important archaeological dig in the US over the last 100 years, revealing the land route taken by the Spanish Conquistador Coronado from 1539-1542.
This archaeological dig yielded a host of "firsts", including the discovery of the first Colony, San Geronimo 3, in the southwest in 1540 which predated Roanoke and Jamestown.
Dr. Seymour unearths the very oldest firearm, a "wall cannon", to ever be found in the US. The dig also discloses the first Native American revolt, predating the Pueblo revolt in New Mexico by some 150 years.
The Tohono O'odham are profiled in the film while transforming their colonial narrative based on Dr. Seymour's findings.
